What is Decouply?

Decouply is a unique word disassociation game that flips the traditional word association concept on its head. Instead of finding related words, your goal is to enter English nouns that are completely unrelated to the highlighted words on screen.

This simple yet challenging mechanic creates an addictive gameplay loop that exercises your vocabulary, tests your semantic knowledge, and trains your brain to think in unexpected directions.

Whether you're a word game enthusiast, a language learner, or someone looking for a quick brain workout, Decouply offers a fresh take on vocabulary games.

How to Play Decouply

🎯

The Goal

Type a word that has no semantic connection to the highlighted words. The number of highlighted words equals your current difficulty level (1-4).

Valid Words

Use common English nouns in singular form. Words must be 3-20 characters, contain only letters, and cannot be repeated.

⚠️

Avoid Similarity

Watch out for semantic relations, spelling similarities, rhymes, and categorical connections. Any similarity costs a life!

📈

Scoring System

Points = difficulty × 5 + streak bonus (max 10). Every 5 successful words increases difficulty. Losing a life decreases it.

Understanding Semantic Connections

AI-powered feedback explains why words are connected

Decouply uses AI-powered semantic analysis to detect connections between words. When you lose a life, the game explains exactly why your word was considered related.

Connections can be subtle! Words might be related through:

  • Meaning: Synonyms, categories, or conceptual relationships
  • Spelling: Similar letter patterns, prefixes, or suffixes
  • Sound: Rhymes or similar pronunciation
  • Context: Words commonly used together

Pro Tips for High Scores

1.

Switch domains deliberately: Jump between nature → technology → food → places to maximize distance from previous words.

2.

Avoid word forms: If "garden" is highlighted, avoid "gardener", "gardening", or even "park".

3.

Think abstract: Concrete nouns like "spoon" are safer than concept words that connect to many things.

4.

Avoid rhymes: "Cat" and "bat" are too similar in sound. Think of completely different phonetic patterns.

5.

Use the dice button: Stuck at the start? Roll a random word to seed your game without thinking.

6.

Build a mental list: Keep a rotation of "safe" words from disconnected domains ready.
